Plenty to see & do...

There is a resident herd of deer on North Uist.  Seals are common and Otters can be seen on North Uist.  On a nice clear day you can see the islands of St Kilda from the West Coast of Uist.

Taigh Chearsabhagh Arts Centre & Museum
Based in Lochmaddy exhibitions are on show all year round and change frequently. There is a great gift shop and the Post Office is also housed in Taigh Chearsabhagh. Paintings are displayed in the Cafe and other works are shown in the other Galleries. Open all year round from 10am - 5pm Monday to Saturday.

The beaches in Uist are some of the best in the Outer Hebrides. Often deserted the beaches have white sand lapped by crystal clear waters.

Balranald Nature Reserve
You can visit the Balranald Nature Reserve on the west side of the island where you may be able to see such birds as the Corncrake, Curlew, Elder Ducks, Gannets, Whopper, Mute Swans or Greylag Geese and on the hills of North Uist you may even spot the Golden Eagle.

North Uist has a vast number of Trout and Salmon lochs where you can fish on a daily or weekly permit, which can be purchased from the North Uist Estate Office in Lochmaddy or telephone 01876500329. Boat hire can also be arranged for most of the lochs.
